Here is another Update to IM4 = Inflammation Mastery, 4th Edition
As I mentioned in the final few minutes of my recent video on iodide therapy and the 1965 publication-paradigm shift, I am already working on some new reviews of mitochondrial function (from the perspective of basic sciences) and neuroinflammation (from the perspective of clinical sciences), among other topics.
Variable length: Some of these articles are ginormous—up to 70 pages which is huge for a scientific article. Other articles such as the one posted here are a short 2-3 pages.
Variable complexity: Some of these articles are easy reading; others require days for review and understanding.
Variable applicability: Some of these articles never transition to clinical applicability while others are loaded with clinical ready-for-prime-time action steps.
Has the clinical paradigm shifted in any meaningful way?
For me, life is too short for idle reading. Furthermore, I have no intention of filling my books with molecular trivia even if I personally understand it and find it interesting. As such, my “IM4updates” will boil down to the singular evaluation of clinical utility:
How does this information change the way we treat patients either for 1) preventive healthcare or 2) specific diseases and disorders?
Some articles will be mildly interesting (at the very least, otherwise I would not take the time to read them and post them here) and others will hopefully be rich with detail that we can apply practically—let’s hope for more of the latter.
